How does Plexr® work?
Plexr uses an innovative system based on the exclusive plasma exeresis technology developed by GMV – Italy. The unique plasma beam generated by Plexr® consists of ionized gas, similar to a microflits. The generated plasma very accurately transfers a minimal dose of energy to the skin, without affecting the surrounding tissue. The extraordinary precision of the Plexr® enables excellent results with minimal deterioration.
Is Plexr Safe?
Yes, Plexr has a very shallow action on mainly the top layer of the epidermis. Due to its proven very limited energy penetration depth to the skin, Plexr is the only plasma device that can be safely used on patients with pacemakers, stents or any other form of body implants. Moreover, Plexr is the only plasma device that is used by ophthalmologists for procedures on the naked eye.
What is the cost?
The price for each client will vary depending on the number and size of the areas to be treated, together with the quality, laxity of the existing skin around the eyes and texture of skin below the eye area. Significantly tired upper and lower eyes lids/bags will be at higher in price as they will require multiple treatments to achieve their desired results.
How Does Plexr Compare with Surgical Blepharoplasty?
Surgery requires cutting of skin, creates a scar and requires stitches Requires injection of local anaesthetics or general anaesthetic and there is a risk of too much tissue being removed preventing eyelids from closing.
Is it just for the face or can it be used on other areas of the body?
Plexr is most commonly used around the eyes, however can be used to loose skin almost everywhere on the body as well as scars anywhere on the face or body.
How many treatments are needed?
Each treatment tightens tissue by approximately 30% so depending on the amount of tissue laxity and client’s desired end result, 1-3 treatments may be required.
Who is the best candidate for this procedure?
There are three separate groups the Plexr applies to:
1) the younger patient with naturally hooded eyes and those patients with typical ‘Asian’ eyes,
2) the middle-aged patient with some excess skin developing either in upper and/or lower eyes lids who
wish to retain their youthfully appearance.
3) The older patients with excess skin folds on upper and lower eyelids, creases and crepy skin texture
with unwanted eye bags.
When do you see the results?
Right away. When we are doing the procedure you can immediately see the skin contract and shrink as the solid skin turns immediate to a gas. The patient will really see the benefits by the time the skin’ crust is completely peeled and will continue to see results for up to six months with new collagen regeneration that “plumps” up the skin. Within thirty days there will be near optimum results.
How long is recovery?
Patients are normally ready to go back to routine activities once scabs peeled around day 7. For others who are less self conscious and don’t perform manual or physical work can go about their activities much sooner. However, we know that many people would prefer to recover at home until most of the scabs have fallen off. The final decision as to when the patient actually goes back to work will depend on their lifestyle and the patient’s attitude to leaving home with camouflage makeup.
What are the risks?
Erythema (redness of skin): the treated areas have a distinctive brown crusting caused by the sublimation process. This crusting falls away and is shed to reveal new skin which can be red in places as it increased blood flow due to the growth of the superficial tissue and collagen. It will gradually fade.
Inflammation (swelling): Treatment with the Plexr system presents a minimal amount of swelling that can last for first few days.
Infection and viral risks: Each Patient is assessed at consultation by the practitioner and may be given antiviral and antibiotics prescription to combat these risks.
Discomfort and Pain: Prior to treatment patients will have topical anaesthetic cream applied to the target areas which will significant lower the level of discomfort. Over the counter painkiller can be taken prior to treatment for those requiring further reassurance.
Is there a risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) from the Plexr treatment?
Plexr® does not cause PIH. However, it is important to protect the treated skin against UV and blue light (artificial light) radiation after the treatment in order to prevent a possibly temporary increased production of melanin (pigment). When these rare discolourations do occur, they are always temporary.
